Kokua-3.7.27.35441 Released

Release 3.7.27.35441 brings Kokua to Second Life version 3.7.27, a Maintenance Release cohort, 3.7.26 Hoover Height cohort, and to RLV version 2.9.9.

Thanks to Gavin Hird aka Dayturn, for help sorting out OpenSim economy issues.
Gavin develops an OpenSim grid which uses Mac as its server host. I don’t think he is ready for direct log on yet (Gavin comment if different) but, his grid is Hypergrid capable. Additional information is available at the xmir blog.

If a test version is currently installed, the automatic update feature will not function. A separate download and install is needed.

Kokua does not use the RLV start-up restriction feature. This feature causes the viewer to have a black screen for as much as a minute when first starting the viewer. If this feature is important to you, use the RLV viewer.

For a complete list of changes please see the change log. CHANGELOG.txt

Please refer to Release Notes for more detail about fixes and additions in this release.

Kokua’s ticket system has a vote for individual tickets. I would like to use this to determine which is most needed for bugs and which is most desired for features. Also, there is an accumulation of old tickets that need review. If you submitted a ticket under the old Redmine system, those were copied to the ticket system and need review for relevance.

Thanks for an ever improving Kokua viewer!

As mentioned the xmir grid is currently not ready to take large numbers of direct logins like the bigger grids, but that has more to do with the PostgreSQL database than OS X as the database adapter for it has some annoyances that still remains in mantis.

There is now a request form for an avatar at http://www.xmir.org/register-avatar.html. No fancy starter avatars yet, but there is sufficient in the grid to get you clothed. :-)
I am working on improvements in that department.

The viewer seems to be good but the RLV of this viewer is heavily bugged. I mean, not usable at all.

    How-to-report-a-bug.
    Where to report a bug.

Additionally for RLV bugs explain how the behavior differs from Marines’ RLV.

Hmmm RLV does seem to work fine here. Sorry for the late post, but I don’t use it often.

There’s a few other things that are broken, but nothing I find too inconvenient. All of those are with RLV enabled and could well be by design:
    * Logging in at a custom location isn’t possible, which e.g. means it’s not possible to click on a destination and have the location be the login point.
    * Right-clicking an outfit and selecting Remove All, then trying to re-wear it doesn’t work.
    * Wireframe mode doesn’t work (CTRL+SHIFT+R or via Develop menu). All it does seem to do is turn off ALM.
    * The entire pathfinding UI seems broken. It’s impossible to highlight the various object types, and the pathfinding tester also seems completely broken (always fails even if there’s a path, verified with the original LL viewer).

Again, these might well be intended… I don’t know.

    @Jenni:
Pathfinding is not in Kokua. It requires licensing for Linden Lab and then restricts the viewer to SecondLife use.

If you can submit bug reports on the others I’ll look into them.

    Thanks,
    Nicky

The smart striptease feature of my relay and of my helper does not work with the RLV of this viewer. The smart striptease means that things are stripped (removed from the avatar) by folders: when an item of a folder inside #RLV is taken off, the whole contents is taken off. With this viewer, that just does not work.

Maybe RLV is bugged with kokua, but one thing good with this viewer is that I can check ALM in the graphic setting without slowing down my old computer.

How is it possible please to have on start the favorite windlight setting, instead of having to go to world–>Environement setting ? Thanks.
