Kokua Beta 3.5.1 is available for testing.

Kokua Beta 3.5.1 is available for testing. This has Server Side Avatar Baking (SSAB) merged into the recently released released Kokua-3.5.0. A recent question; “What does this mean for Opensim users?” and at the time the answer was hopefully it will be invisible to users. However, as Linden Lab (LL) worked SSAB they found and corrected a few client side baking bugs that had carry over to SSAB. Now the answer is hopefully improved avatar baking. Subjectively, it appears that first time res takes a little longer on non-SSAB regions. Downloads are on bitbucket.

Kokua have not more voice in linux 64bit.

I dont know how to enable voice.

Kokua was the only that with previous version work

What have changed in this last 3-4 versions?

  3. NickyP

    @fabrixx
Have you tried a clean start-up. Remove the ~/.kokua directory and restart. Caution this will erase your settings!
Slvoice program need to be permitted through your firewall.
Do any other 64 bit users have this problem?

  4. fabrixx beck

    I’ve yet tryed.

In device list i see only “default”
When voice worked I saw alsa,oss,ecc.. in drop down list when it worked.

I tried to install pulseaudio-esd-compact & vopy vivox library & voice bin from official SL viewer for linux i tryed also to modify executable properties (# exclude ecc…) with no results.

I need voice for a building inworld course, please help me!!

  5. Kakurady

Voice hasn’t worked since 3.4.5 for me, possibly earlier.

    Ubuntu 12.04 “quantal”, 64-bit.

  6. NickyP

    @Kakurady
Please try to use the 32 bit LL viewer and see if voice works. This should rule out a Ubuntu update issue.

  7. NickyP

Please try the LL 32 bit viewer. That should rule out an operating system update.

  8. NickyP

[20:38:53] nebadon: I got another comment about 64 bit linux not having voice. Both listen and talk being bad. Is voice working for you?
[20:53:22] yes it works for me NickyP
    [20:53:32]
but pulseaudio is a pain in the ass
    [20:53:41] Amen.
[20:53:46] everytime I want to use voice i have to futz with pulseaudio for 10 minutes

This is mostly working great for me, no problems with voice on my Gentoo 64-bit system. One little quirk though, for some reason ctrl-i will not open up an inventory window. Other ctrl keys seem to work.

  14. Gabby

I just realized that ctrl-shift-i does bring up my inventory window, I didn’t use to have to hold down the shift key.

Some issue points for Kokua current:

    * When using multiple grids, Chat logs are not separated so you see your general chat from previous grid.
    * Settings such as menus buttons, side panel buttons etc. do not cross and have to be set for each grid.
    * No OSSL function highlighting or hover text in OpenSim.
    * Mouse Move is inverted by default. So if using Mouse Navigation you have to fiddle with default setting and figure it out. Moving Mouse RT while Lt button depressed on avatar turns you right.
    * No XML or HPA export/import.
    * Ram usage indicates a small leak in viewer which increases slowly over time. I have not done detailed analysis.

FPS is Very Good ! in Fact Astonishingly good, I can get up to 75fps on my own dedicated server (pure SSD & Big Pipe optimized), 55-65 Fps on OSgrid Servers. Machine used for viewer = Video NVidia GTX660 w/2GB, Win-8/Pro w/32GB ram.

    Thanks for your continued efforts.

  16. André

still a lot to do I see. Like the xml/hpa import/export
but first the basic functions (like in imprudence)
after that you could work on extra functions..

    * No OSSL function highlighting or hover text in OpenSim.
    https://bitbucket.org/NickyP/kokua-3.5.1-chui/downloads/Kokua_-3-5-2-27966_Viewer_Setup.exe

this was fairly low hanging fruit for firestorm / Cinders

Please test it. When I tested there were 6-8 functions listed in the log for which no matching test was present in strings.xml
Provide the information and I’ll include it.

    * Mouse Move is inverted by default. So if using Mouse Navigation you have to fiddle with default setting and figure it out. Moving Mouse RT while Lt button depressed on avatar turns you right.
    https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-27481
I see you have already commented.
This is a toss up for defaults. If it is changed someone else is likely to complain.

    * Settings such as menus buttons, side panel buttons etc. do not cross and have to be set for each grid.

I haven’t seen this. And wonder if it is necessary.
But then, I have tried to change a setting and log to a different grid.
The current bottom default toolbar buttons are roughly set in right to left order as in Imprudence.

  18. André

I wi give it a swirl tomorrow..

    Thanks for the response Nicky.

OSSL: I gave up on doing any further work on that material for viewers, GeShI and Notepad++ after December 12th 2012 which I had been doing for quite along time. Those GIT & Bitbucket repos were subsequently deleted in February of this year. I had sent you notice via Bitbucket in December & January. Cinder Roxley dropped it into Firestorm and does whatever with it now. To test it I used a simple LSL script with the various osFunc’s and in Aurora-Sim the aaFunc’s, botFunc’s.

As you noted the Jira had been commented. It’s inverted from V1.2x viewers and for whatever reason LL thinks it’s “natural” to move mouse Left but have it more Right… Maybe they stand on their heads or something… Makes little sense. Cool VL Viewer, Singularity and just about every other viewer makes correction for that malady. Some as a menu option in the preferences.

The UI Settings for buttons: If one sets up their viewer to conform to their tastes and usage, those should move along with them between grids. It’s a PITA to have to re-tweak for different grids, especially the ever expanding OpenSim Grid network.

Thank You for your attention to these issues.
    WhiteStar

PS: As the viewer’s which are useable with OpenSimulator are quickly vanishing and things closing up in regards to LL Licensing and their own internal changes, it may be prudent to issue some general statement in regards to the future of Kokua and the goals it has for OpenSimulator for the future. I have recently been involved in some random discussions where people were expressing a desire to know and understand what is going to happen in the near future.

I logged to my local grid. Moved the AO button from bottom to right. Logged out, logged in to SL beta grid and AO button stayed on the right. Logged out, and logged in to osgrid and it stayed on right moved the AO button to the left side. Logged out, and logged into metrolpolis meterverse and it stayed on the left.

If this is due to HGing grid to grid without an account then a new user is established and the defaults would present. I suggest you modify toolbars.xml to be as you want and then but a copy back. Then after upgrade
overwrite the system one with the backed up one that has your toolbar settings.

I did not have a previous Kokua install and so did a fresh one with this last binary posted. I had updated my Primary drive to SSD cleanly a couple of months ago. Logged into my own server and set it up, then went to OSG and again to 3RG and the sidebar had to be adjusted. Not sure if that makes any difference.

Is in Project an old interface 1x porting?

  23. NickyP

    @ws
Did you have the same identical user names on osgrid and 3rg?

  24. NickyP

Our approach is to have limited look and feel of Imprudence. Recently, the top menu was changed to File Edit Build in the same order as is found in Imprudence. The bottom toolbar button defaults are arranged roughly (all Imprudence bottom buttons are there plus some others) in the same order as Imprudence.

Will Kokua look and feel be exactly like Imprudence? Likely never.

That said, if someone wants to make an Imprudence skin for Kokua I will help to integrate it into Kokua.

  25. WhiteStar Magic

Yes I do, on all grids. It started as my original Grid-naught account since 2008 and used exclusively by myself to the best of my knowledge, no one hijacked my name anywhere…

  26. NickyP

I cannot reproduce. Erased Kokua settings, logged to osgrid, moved conversations button to left and AO button to right. Logged off osgrid. logged on 3rd rock grid, settings where as set on osgrid.

    I just installed the Kokua 3.5.2.27966 (Apr 6 2013 14:21:32)

    Located @ https://bitbucket.org/NickyP/kokua-3.5.1-chui/downloads/Kokua_-3-5-2-27966_Viewer_Setup.exe

The OSSL, AA, BOT functions now all appear correctly, minus a couple and the hover texts are there now as well. Thank You on behalf of all the advanced scripters.

While in other viewers my fps is near to 35-40 fps in minimal graphics settings, kokua is 15-20 fps.

At max graphics settings i reach 25-30 fps, but in Kokua i barely have 4 fps.

This happens to me since version 3.4. I tried fresh install (no ~/.kokua folder and updated my graphic drivers more than once. Also played a lot with preferences, advanced and develop menus, with no actual improve in speed.

    Any help?

I was thinking at post at forum but seems not to be working, i guess.

    Thanks in advance…

    Hi Adrain,

I’m getting good FPS on my system with Kokua, in fact, better than some other viewers. IN LBSA @ OSG I’m averaging 66 fps when stuff is loading, it settles after caching of course. My setting are at Full Ultra but I have a video card which is capable of dealing wit that fully.

Heres my Help About Kokua info.
