Moving On
Dear Kokua/Imprudence community,
After 3 years of serving this project, I will be retiring effective September 1. As often happens in life, the priorities in my life have shifted over time, and it is now time for me to focus on other things.
Obviously, this will be a major transition for the project. But, I will be working for the next month to make it as smooth as possible, so that everything can continue with minimal disruption. At this time, we have not yet decided who, if anyone, will replace me as “benevolent dictator“, or whether there will be some other form of project leadership. Of course, we will keep you guys informed as the details are fleshed out.
My retirement is not an occasion for somberness, but rather for fond reflection on the past, and hope-filled anticipation for the future. I am proud of the work we have done and what we have accomplished so far, and I look forward to the great things that will be accomplished after I am gone. What’s more, I am immensely proud that we have accomplished all this without compromising our principles or our integrity, even when the road was most difficult, and the temptation most pressing.
This project has been the greatest undertaking of my life so far, and an invaluable learning experience. It has been a grand journey, challenging and frustrating at times, fun and exciting at others. I’d like to thank the team, our contributors, bug reporters, users, and everyone else who makes this project possible. It has been a great privilege to be a part of it.
I’m certain that I will miss this project and its people. But, I am also certain it is time for me to move on. So long, and I’ll see you around.
You started something amazing and it’s grown into it’s own creature. It’s sad you won’t have your hand in the nest anymore, but you’ve got some awesome people following in your footsteps, so things will only get more awesome. :]
Thanks for all your hard work. You can only be moving onto bigger and greater things. :3
I wish you the best of luck in whatever you choose to pursue in the future. Thank you for everything you’ve done, I only hope you enjoyed the experience as much as we appreciated it!
Take care
Woot an’ yay for all you have done! Thank you.
You have given us so much there are no words to thank you enough. You will be deeply missed. Best wishes and good luck in the future.

Thanks so much for Imprudence and all the work you have done to create my favorite viewer!
Wishing you lotsa luck and fun in your future adventures!
Thank you for all the time and effort you have invested in this great project!
I’ve been using Imp since the early days of this project. It was such a pleasure to have an alternate viewer for SL that was stable, innovative and drama free
I continue to use it in OpenSim and it remains, to this day, my hands-down viewer of choice – not only for the product itself, but in support of the people behind it.
I wish you the best in your future endeavors, good health and peace of mind. Thanks you for all of your hard work and unwavering integrity as both a developer and leader of the Imp team. The privilege has indeed been ours.
Best Wishes!
Thanks for all the work and leadership that has helped make Imprudence such an excellent viewer.
BlueWall
thanks for all the great work. Best of luck to future endeavors
Huge thank you for all the effort you put in to creating Imprudence and best wishes for future projects.
Thanks for all the good work you’ve done for us, and good luck with your life. Karma should be kind to someone who has given so much.
Have fun and take care.
Thank you SO much for all of your efforts, Jacek! You’ve chaired and taken minutes of meetings, coded and released useful tools and utilities (Blender BVH exporter!), been a kind and patient participant in the community… there’s just way too much to list. Perhaps most of all you gave of your *time*, and helped make the SL and OpenSim experiences better and more exciting for countless users.
Best wishes on whatever you do next, and I hope we will continue to see you around the metaverse!
I can only echo the above sentiments.
Will you still be around in SL/OpenSim, doing “other stuff”, or is life taking you in an entirely different direction?
aww *nuzzles and gives ya one of his best bones in thanks for all your hard work* Thanks for all you have done!
Thanks for everything and very best of luck for future
Thanks for your awesome work on the project, and good luck with your future creative pursuits.
Thanks for everithing!!
Imprudence for me will be the best viewer forever!!
I hope you will find happiness in your future.
I greet you
although they are very sad
the project
Thanks for all your hard work and everything you did… you will be missed.. and good luck with everything in the future..
Aww wow… this is an unexpected announcement. Still, as you say so truthfully, everything changes, everything comes to an end, and I can only wish that your next project will be as exciting as Imprudence/Kokua
Thank you for the tremendous amount of work done so far.
And all the best luck for the team to find a new “benevolent dictator”
Jacek, thanks for all the work you put into Imprudence/Kokua and your leadership of the project and best of luck in whatever you do next. You’ll be sorely missed.
All the best to you Jacek. Thank you for not only an awesome viewer, but especially for setting a standard for integrity.
You’ve made many, many virtual worlds a better place with Imprudence. Happy trails and may your days be filled with the same happiness you’ve given the rest of us.
You’ve done well Jacek, and have left a great legacy that people will remember you by. Be proud and happy with what you have achieved, not only a great viewer but also a principled approach to goals and team management that has been a distinguishing feature of Imprudence.
Whatever you decide to do in the future, do it well. And I know you will. :-)
Morg.
Big thank you for your hard work and great contributuin.
Take care and hope you have lots of fun
Imprudence is the best viewer & I wish you the best!! I hope it stays wonderful in your stead, else I don’t know what I’ll do haha. Phoenix makes me crash, the standard viewer is crap, etc etc.
Love kokua!
Thanks very much for spearheading the effort to develop such a superior viewer . . . and best of luck with whatever you’ll be doing next.
I wish the best luck to you
Thanks for all !
Go on to bigger and greater things.
I use your Blender animation stuff for virtual worlds all the time, and Imprudence is *the* OpenSim viewer (as much as there is one!). Here’s hoping that the rest of the guys manage to keep that legacy for Kokua.
As others have already stated, you will be missed. Your creations for Blender (the animation rig/bvh exporter) and your contributions to the third party viewer scene are immeasurable, and you can add my thanks to the list. Here’s wishing you the best in all you do, and thank you for all you’ve done.
Thank you for all of your time and effort. The Kokua/Imprudence Project remains the only organization offering true 64-bit viewers for Linux. For me this is extremely important as steaming music does not work for me on any 32-bit viewer, even though I have all 32-bit libraries installed.
Many thanks for the all the work you’ve put into Imprudence and Kokua, and all the best to you and yours in your future efforts. I hereby add my voice to the chorus praising the Imprudence project for its making available a true 64-bit Linux client. If you could do one last thing and get the LL people in a room and, um, persuade them to do likewise…? Just kidding–mostly. As a Linux user, I owe you more than I can say.
good luck in your next chapter and i hope it is a bigger one than this one. you have given me personally a tool that enhances my enjoyment of virtual worlds
it is also a tool that has allowed my creativity to grow and i think there is nothing nobler than helping people become more creative – in that light, i am indebted to you and thankful for all you have done

Thank you for all of your hard work on Imprudence. I use this browser every day. Great job!
I just wanted to say that you (and McCabe, and the others at Imprudence) have very much improved the quality and effectiveness of my online time, for years. You’ve helped my learning, and smoothed the path before me in many ways. Like many others, I will always be grateful for what you have done, and the many very large contributions you have made. Thank you, and I wish you all the best and great successes in everything you do from now on.
I just read this, bummer for us, but wishing you the best out there in rl. Thanks for all you have done up to this point.
good luck in future activities and hope you can make something else amazing soon! best, jh
