Bug with Second Life TOS acceptation (Fix now available)

Hello dear Imprudents!

We have been informed of a weird bug affecting Imprudence’s ability to accept a new TOS for SecondLife. The SL TOS page is just not loading correctly and some people will either be stuck at the acceptance page or can potentially crash. The developers are aware of the issue and will apply a fix this week that will go both in the latest 1.3.0 branch and 1.4.0 Experimental.

A temporary workaround is simple: use another viewer to accept the TOS, then relog in Imprudence, and everything should be working fine.

PS: You DO NOT need to download Viewer 2.x to do so! Any old viewer will work. We recommend the text based Radegast to login and accept the policy change.

We apologize for that glitch and any inconvenience, and we thank you for your great patience with that matter.

UPDATE: A hotfix is now available for the most recent Experimental release:

Eheheheheheh. I actually spotted this a few days ago and meant to bug you about it, but I didn’t expect it to become a major issue so soon. Sorry.

I would like to add that *any* other viewer will do fine for accepting the new TOS…I see too many people complaining about “having to install the 2.x viewer” when this is not actually necessary. If you already did, and want to get rid of the newly created system folders (My Outfits and such), the Ascent viewer can actually delete them even though LL claims that it is not possible.

Thanks for the very important precision Rhonda, I also added a link to Radegast to the post, as it’s quick to download and works as well.

Rhonda, I use the myoutfits folder on Imprudence and other 1.235 type viewers, i have 340 of my clothing outfits in that folder

Well, at least that explains the problem, but I was deliberately NOT loading another viewer on this machine because I am beyond tired of my inventory not loading.

This, in a word, sucks. I am not blaming Imprudence, I am just cranky now.

“The application failed to initialize properly (0XC0000135). Click on OK to terminate the application.”

And that’s all for Radegast. Okay, SnowGlobe, here we come…

This is also a problem on the Mac version as well, for me it crashes and causes the “Report problem to Apple” dialog to appear. I do wish Imprudence supported saving multiple (alt) logins as most other viewers do, instead of just saving one login/password at a time,

I didn’t even log out and download another viewer. I was sure that the team will release fix that and that’s done only a few hours after the report of the bug. (For windows only atm but I think that versions for other platforms will follow soon). Thanks McCabe and the team. Hey guys, think about how McCabe will be efficient and fast with his new computer. Help him to get it quickly. Thanks again.

Just like to say that I just saw a report that this bug may not be Imprudence-specific – someone else had the problem on both SL2.0 and Phoenix, and solved it by reinstalling.

why you not update the 64 Bit viewer?

I’m login in SL with the 1.3 Viewer from LL and accept the TOS…
after that you can login with Imprudence.

Ohohoooo i hope you understand my bad english:)
